Level 2 Introductory Awareness of Sensory Loss

The purpose of this course is to provide the learner with introductory knowledge about sensory loss at level 2.  This online course will consider types of sensory loss including congenital and acquired, factors that may impact an individual with a form of sensory loss and how not to disable individuals with sensory loss that you meet or work with.

This course is delivered in 1 unit which includes 5 learning outcomes. There will be a series of online lessons for each learning outcome and a final assessment to complete and submit. The learning outcomes covered are below:

Unit 1 – Introductory Awareness of Sensory Loss

Learning Outcome 1

Understand the factors that impact on an individual with sensory loss and steps that can be taken to overcome these.

Learning Outcome 2

Understand the importance of effective communication for individuals with sensory loss.

Learning Outcome 3

Know the main causes and conditions of sensory loss

Learning Outcome 4

Know how to recognise when an individual may be experiencing sight and/or hearing loss

Learning Outcome 5

Know how to report concerns about sensory loss
